Gilbert Wade Blackwell, a cherished resident of Atmore, Alabama, tragically passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 36. Born in Mobile, Alabama, on August 20, 1988, Gilbert’s death has left family and friends heartbroken, as they mourn the loss of a kind soul whose impact was felt deeply by all who knew him.
Gilbert is survived by his mother, Rebecca Walls of Atmore, Alabama, his daughter, Baileigh Irene Blackwell of Pensacola, Florida, and the mother of his child, Ashlyn Patterson of Pensacola, Florida. He is also survived by his siblings: Brandon Shane Joiner, Hannah Irene Blackwell, and Tawaka Chantel Rolin, all of Atmore. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Boyd Blackwell, and stepfather, Lurby J. Denais, as well as his grandparents.
In a touching post on social media, friends and family have expressed their sorrow. One loved one wrote, "Gilbert’s presence will forever be missed, but his spirit will guide us," while another said, "The love and joy he brought into our lives will never be forgotten."
Visitation for Gilbert will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 4:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM at Petty Funeral Homes in Atmore.
