Ezequier Ernesto Galarza, a 25-year-old resident of Waterbury, CT, tragically lost his life in a crash on Interstate 84 East early on Friday, July 4, 2025. The incident occurred at around 3:20 AM near Exit 16, when Galarza’s vehicle became uncontrollable for reasons that are still under investigation by the Connecticut State Police.
According to reports, Galarza was initially traveling in the right lane when he lost control and was separated from his vehicle. Authorities are still working to clarify whether the vehicle involved was a motorcycle or another type of motorized vehicle. After being thrown from the vehicle, Galarza was struck by a 2018 Jeep Compass Latitude as he entered the left travel lane. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is assisting in the ongoing inquiry. The eastbound lanes of I-84 were closed for several hours, reopening shortly after 7:15 AM.
The loss of Ezequier Ernesto Galarza has deeply affected his community, and condolences have poured in from friends and loved ones. "Our hearts go out to his family during this heartbreaking time," said one online commenter. The family has yet to announce funeral arrangements.
